Talking Point: Which Steam Games Would You Be Keen To Play On An Xbox Console?

It feels like the topic of the week has been centered around whether Steam will be coming to the next Xbox console, and although it’s probably going to be ages until we know either way, it’s still a fun thing to discuss!

Personally, I’ve got quite a few games in my Steam library that would be a great fit for my Xbox console, although some would definitely require a mouse and keyboard too. Football Manager 2024 comes to mind, for example, as does a big MMO like Star Wars: The Old Republic – the possibilities are endless really. Just looking at the “Top Sellers” list on Steam right now, games like R.E.P.O. and Wreckfest 2 aren’t on Xbox at all yet, so Steam integration would allow us to access these titles much earlier than we can today.

I think the modding possibilities are really exciting with something like this as well. eFootball PES 2021 is a game that I own across both Xbox and PC, but it’s the latter version that gets all my attention because of the mods. Some Xbox games have mods that work really well, but opening things up to the Steam Workshop and beyond would be incredible!

Of course, the other part that would make Steam so useful to Xbox players — and it’s possibly a reason why it won’t happen after all — is that it would provide more opportunities to get games at lower prices. The Microsoft Store would suddenly be in competition with Steam, the Epic Games Store and everything else, which feels a little counter-intuitive.

Who knows, though? It’s hard to know what Microsoft is thinking at this point, and the leaked image that showed a Steam tab next to a bunch of devices including two Xbox consoles was always bound to get everyone’s hopes up.

It’s probably nothing… but if Steam was to come to Xbox, which games would you want to play on there?
