Amazon Has Ordered Two Seasons For God Of War TV Show, Writer Reveals

The God Of War TV series currently in development between PlayStation Productions and Amazon won’t just be getting one season, according to showrunner and writer Ronald D. Moore.

Moore revealed that Amazon has already ordered two seasons of the show, in an interview on Katee Sackhoff’s podcast, The Katee Sackhoff Show.

Spotted by GamesRadar, Moore said “Right now I’m working on the adaptation of this video game called God of War, that Amazon has ordered two seasons of and they asked me to come in, I’m literally in the writers room and that’s my new thing.”

Moore later said that he’s looking forward to playing the games, after not playing video games since the arcade days of the 1980’s. Though, his time away from the medium is causing a few difficulties with getting through them, as he joked about not knowing where the R1 button was, and dying due to his hesitation.

It’s a good thing Moore doesn’t have to play the games himself to see Kratos’ story through. Otherwise, that could seriously slow down the writing process.

Moore took over writing and showrunner duties after the original creative leads, Rafe Judkins, Hawk Otsby and Mark Fergus left in October 2024. The previous three left after a consensus on where the show should go couldn’t be reached, and Sony and Amazon opted to “start fresh” instead.

It’s interesting to know that two seasons have been ordered, and definitely seems to be an indication of how much confidence Amazon has in its video game-related projects. After the success of the Fallout show, it’s entirely possible that this coming God of War series could continue that momentum.
