While the deals and the stats of the gaming world are important, nothing would happen without the research, funding and, of course, development that goes into making a great game.

So here’s a collection of the most exciting new mobile games right now, the developers and publishers behind them, and why, exactly, they’ve made the cut.

Retro Slam Tennis

New release roundup: A Perfect Day, Bellemint, Retro Slam Tennis and more

Through the power of mobile games, now anyone can become a tennis master from the comfort of home, working their way through the rankings and becoming the best player in the world. Or at least the best in Retro Slam Tennis – the latest game from BAFTA award winner New Star Games.

While mastering this colourful retro-graphics game may not be enough to guarantee beating Andy Murray IRL, tennis fans can take the opportunity to complete various in-game challenges, play on a range of courts and even earn some in-game sponsors. Not bad from the convenience of a screen.

A Perfect Day: Pocket Edition

Perfect Day Studio’s narrative puzzle game A Perfect Day has made the move from PC to mobile more than five years later, after what’s surely felt like an endless time loop for many.

This new version, A Perfect Day: Pocket Edition, now gives even more players the chance to experience the final moments of 1999 by taking control of two young students in China living the same day over and over again, but spending it differently every time.

Big Time Sports

An entirely free game with no ads or in-app purchases, Frosty Pops’ Big Time Sports is finding its home in the App Store’s family genre with its homage to arcade sports games.

Accessible at any skill level, players can simply tap their way through a range of sports from cycling to pole vaulting, with minimalist visuals embodying its straightforward, no-nonsense attitude.

Tales of Wind: Radiant Rebirth

Neocraft’s anime-style MMORPG Tales of Wind has taken new form in Radiant Rebirth, an aptly named remake of the 2019 title.

Though the two are separate games and players can continue on with the original if they prefer, Radiant Rebirth offers revamped graphics, an updated UI, 60 FPS visuals, new content and more.

Bellemint

Revolve’s fashion styling game Bellemint has released worldwide after its initial launch in the US last October, aiming to expand the designer brand’s presence among Gen Z.

With this generation now increasingly in the workforce and spending “more time playing games than they do on social media”, according to developer Muus Collective’s co-founder and co-CEO Sarah Fuchs, it seems there really is no better place to reach a new audience than right here in the mobile games space.
