Saudi Arabia mobile games developer Lobah has raised $12 million from the Social Development Bank (SDB).

The studio secured the funding at Leap 2025 in Riyadh. The SDB said that the investment is part of its efforts to support the games and esports sector under Saudi Arabia’s National Gaming and Esports Strategy.

Lobah was established by co-founder and CEO Eisa Atawi, who was previously the founder and CEO of MAU Games. In January, the company launched Lobah Play, a platform for game publishing, networking, and monetisation.

The developer has already launched several titles and is working on new projects  including trivia game Kingdom of Letters, board game Jackaroo and a PvP battle royale title set in the Arabian peninsula named Faza.

Supporting mobile studios

Saudi Arabia continues to be a hub for investment in the games industry. Last month, the SDB increased its funding for esports and game development to SAR 458m  ($122m), a 53% rise from SAR 300m ($80m).

It is managed in partnership with the Saudi Esports Federation (SEF) under the National Development Fund (NDF), which has supported over 30 clients, including esports clubs, game developers and publishers.

In the same month, mobile studio Spoilz secured a strategic investment to support new IP development, partnerships, local talent training, and monetisation.

The funding is also part of the NDF initiative to drive innovation in Saudi Arabia’s games industry in collaboration with the SDB and the SEF.
