Despelote Arrives On PS5 And PS4 This Coming May 2025
The first-person, slice-of-life soccer adventure game from Julián Cordero and Sebastian Valbuena called despelote officially has a release date, after its reveal in 2023.
After being delayed out of 2024, it’ll finally be arriving this coming May 1, 2025 on both PS5 and PS4. The news was revealed as part of IGN’s Fan Fest going on this week, and if you happen to also have a gaming PC handy, then you can check out the demo for the game available on Steam.
There’s also, of course, a new trailer you can check out announcing the release date and showcasing a good chunk of gameplay.
Despelote is a sort of semi-autobiographical story about co-developer Cordero’s young life, growing up in Quito, Ecuador in the late 90’s and early 2000’s, specifically when Ecuador was on its way to making the FIFA World Cup tournament for the first time in the country’s history.
It looks to be a really interesting and compelling narrative that’s told around you, while you, as a young kid obsessed with soccer, play as much soccer as you can. It’s also got a really unique and intriguing art style.
We’ll see what PlayStation players think of it when it arrives in May.
