Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake Has Exceeded Sales Expectations, Says Square Enix
Square Enix has revealed that Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake has surpassed its internal sales expectations following its launch in November 2024.
Speaking during its financial presentation for the nine-month period ended December 31, 2024, the publisher stated, “Operating income up mainly due to stronger sales of “DRAGON QUEST III HD-2D Remake” than initial assumptions.” Square Enix had previously announced back in December that Dragon Quest III HD2 2D Remake had surpassed two million in combined digital sales and shipments.

Dragon Quest III HD-2D is a complete overhaul of the classic 1988 Dragon Quest III for modern platforms, marrying pixel art vibrant 3D visuals. The game retains the classic turn-based battles and narrative, but introduces new content including fully voiced cutscenes, an orchestral score, and a new Monster Wrangler vocation.
