Resident Evil: ReVerse Will Be Delisted Next Month, Servers Will Shut Down In June 2025

Capcom has announced that it is shutting down Resident Evil: ReVerse, with the game being delisted from digital stores on March 3, 2025, and then servers being shut down on June 29, 2025.

The PvP add-on that was included with the purchase of Resident Evil: Village launched more than a year after the launch of Village after multiple delays, though it was originally set to launch much closer to Village’s release in 2021.

A little less than three years later, Capcom is pulling the plug on the game, with all of its DLC alongside the base game being taken down and removed from purchase when the game is delisted next month.

β€œThank you for playing Resident Evil: ReVerse,” Capcom began in a statement on its official Resident Evil website. β€œThis is to inform you that service will be ending for Resident Evil: ReVerse…The application and all of its DLC will no longer be available for download or purchase.”

β€œResident Evil: ReVerse was developed in celebration of the 25th anniversary of the Resident Evil series, and your overwhelming support for the game has far exceeded our expectations since the time of its release. Now that we’ve reached a new turning point for the series, we feel that Resident Evil: ReVerse has served its original, celebratory purpose admirably

We are incredibly grateful for your warm support for Resident Evil: ReVerse, and we deeply apologize for bringing you this disappointing news.”

Of course it is disappointing for fans of ReVerse that the game is going away, though if someone is keen enough then its possible that a group of fans might keep playing on a server they host themselves. Otherwise, due to the nature of the game as an online multiplayer experience, it will be entirely unplayable after June 29, 2025.

But what’s most interesting about this statement is the idea that Capcom has reached β€œa new turning point for the series.” The last Resident Evil game we got since Village was the remake of Resident Evil 4, so we’re due for whatever Resident Evil 9 will be.

That is clearly the β€˜turning point’ being alluded to, but perhaps this announcement is our first hint that we’ll be seeing whatever RE9 is soon, and this is just Capcom preparing for RE9 to take center stage.

Of course that’s just speculation, but with rumours floating around that we’re due for a Valentine’s Day State Of Play, we might not have to wait very long to see what Capcom means by this β€œturning point.”
