Two More Xbox First-Party Games Are Moving To PS5 In 2025
As part of an update on the future of Microsoft’s ‘Age’ series, Xbox has confirmed that Age Of Empires 2: Definitive Edition and Age of Mythology: Retold are both heading to PS5 in 2025. These are the latest Xbox Game Studios titles to be announced for the Sony platform, following the reveal of a Forza Horizon 5 port last week.
Age of Mythology: Retold will be the first to move over – that one is heading to PlayStation 5 in just a few weeks’ time on March 4th. Pre-orders for the PS5 version of Retold are now live, and Premium Edition purchasers can play the game early from February 27th. The main launch is set to coincide with the next major expansion – Immortal Pillars.
As for Age of Empires 2, we don’t have a date for that PS5 port just yet. The development team at World’s Edge says “we’re keeping some details under wraps until spring” in regards to AoE2’s future, so we can probably expect a more solid launch window for that one in the coming weeks.
Both of these PlayStation versions of Age will be completely crossplay enabled with Xbox and PC – hugely expanding the overall playerbase for Microsoft’s premiere strategy series. Here’s what the team had to say on this move:
“Playing across all platforms is a game-changer for our franchise, and it’s all about bringing our community together. This isn’t just about convenience—it’s about growing and strengthening the Age community. With cross-play, we’re creating one global battlefield where every strategy, every empire, and every player matters.”
