Samsung has unveiled its Galaxy S25 device with a customised Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset that promises to run games with increased Ray Tracing performance of 40%.

The reveal includes the S25, S25 Plus and S25 Ultra devices. Samsung said the new 3nm processor, in partnership with Qualcomm, comes with a 40% stronger neural processing unit (NPU) and “runs advanced AI directly on the device”.

During the official presentation, the firm claimed that its new CPU offers up to 5x stronger performance and “smoother graphics rendering for an optimised gaming experience” with a 120hz refresh rate and an improved FPS by up to 18%.

All versions of the Galaxy S25 series come with 12GB RAM for better multitasking and AI processing. They also have “enhanced thermal management” with a 40% larger vapour chamber, thanks to a new “next-gen heat dissipation architecture” that manages heat.

Galaxy AI

One of the latest Galaxy devices’ key features is advanced AI capabilities. Galaxy AI is back and features several new enhancements to improve usability, like AI Select, which allows users to select an object on-screen and perform actions like turning it into a GIF, editing, sharing, or saving it.

Galaxy AI can also chain tasks, such as finding a restaurant based on dietary preferences, booking a time, and sharing details with others. Natural language search, previously seen in the Photos app, is now available in the Settings app, allowing users to find options without navigating through menus.

One UI 7 has been integrated into the Galaxy AI through the Now Bar, which displays ongoing notifications and relevant app summaries. The AI-powered Now Brief offers a daily rundown or a recap of the day, including calendar events, photos, reminders, and wallet information.

Prices will start at $799 (£799) for the basic 6.2-inch model or $999 (£999) for the Galaxy S25 Plus, while the Galaxy S25 Ultra starts at $1,299 (£1,249). Pre-orders are currently ongoing with regular sales set to commence from Friday, February 7th 2025.
