Sid Meier’s Civilization VII Has Officially Gone Gold, Firaxis Confirms

Sid Meier’s Civilization VII has officially gone gold, developer Firaxis and publisher 2K have confirmed ahead of the game’s release next month.

Civilization VII is the long-awaited new entry in what could arguably be classed as ‘the’ 4X strategy game to play in the genre, and it’ll be playable on both PS5 and PS4, along with every other major platform under the sun when it launches on February 11, 2025.

“We’ve struck gold!” the game’s official X account said in a post earlier today, announcing the news. Complete with a short looping video of one of the game’s NPC’s doing a celebratory dance.

Sid Meier’s Civilization VI first released in 2016, and has continued to be one of the top-selling 4X strategy games on the market. Civilization VII is now primed to take that baton and run even further with it, with a host of updates and changes that Firaxis hopes resonates with players as another evolution of the series.
