Games Workshop Is ‘Looking For The Next One’ After Warhammer: Space Marine 2’s Huge Success
The success of Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 has prompted franchise owner Games Workshop to look for its next big hit in the video games market, although it notes that continued success is “not a given.”
Speaking in its latest earnings call, Kevin Rountree, CEO of Games Workshop, revealed that “established games” contributed to the company’s video game revenue during the latest quarter, with royalty income generated by the launches of Space Marine 2 and Warhammer 40,000: Speed Freaks.
We recognize that successes like these for Warhammer are not a given in the world of video games. Clearly we are looking for the next one. We remain cautious when forecasting royalty income.
