Amazon cancelling original Metroid Prime 4 pre-orders

Metroid Prime 4 was announced by Nintendo at E3 2017, much to the excitement of franchise fans the world over. Then in 2019, Nintendo announced that development was being restarted on the title and fans would have to wait considerably longer to see Samus’ latest adventure. We now know that adventure will finally take place in 2025, but there’s one more hiccup along the way for longtime supporters.

If you pre-ordered Metroid Prime 4 from Amazon years ago, long before it had the “Beyond” subtitle, you might want to check on that pre-order. Amazon has been cancelling those pre-orders recently, with the company making the move due to a “lack of availability.” No worries for those who pre-ordered though, as refunds will also be applied to accounts.

Amazon hasn’t shared full details on why they’re cancelling pre-orders, but it likely has to due with Metroid Prime 4: Beyond being announced, and a new SKU being needed. If anything, hopefully this cancellation means we’ll get an actual release date for the game soon, rather than just the 2025 timing.
