While the deals and the stats of the gaming world are important, nothing would happen without the research, funding and, of course, development that goes into making a great game.
So here’s a collection of the most exciting new mobile games to start your 2025, the developers and publishers behind them, and why, exactly, they’ve made the cut.
Marvel Mystic Mayhem
NetEase Games has kicked off 2025 with a new game leveraging the Marvel IP, out now in closed beta in the UK. Named Marvel Mystic Mayhem, the title tasks Marvel heroes and villains with facing their own nightmares, taking down the aptly named Nightmare, and exploring the astral Dreamscape.
Given the dreamworld emphasis, Marvel Mystic Mayhem leans into mysticisim with the art team giving special priority to the likes of Thor’s lightning power, Scarlet Witch’s chaos magic and Black Knight’s Ebony Blade.
Ark: Ultimate Mobile Edition
Studio Wildcard’s dinosaur hunter Ark: Survival Evolved has received a new mobile iteration in Ark: Ultimate Survivor Edition, packed with new maps from the Scorched Earth, Aberration, Extinction, and Genesis Parts 1 & 2 DLCs.
This definitive version already released on Steam, Switch and PS4 and has now finally made the move to mobile, T-Rex taming and dinosaur riding included.
Archero 2
Hybridcasual hitmaker Habby’s Archero sequel Archero 2 has officially released, following a new protagonist on mission to defeat the hero of old. This roguelike soft launched in late 2024 with 50 main chapters, 1,250 floors in Sky Tower and a whole bunch of character builds already available, and now with its global release there’s even more in store.
Tokyo Dark
As its name suggests, Tokyo Dark is a new game set in the darker depths of Tokyo, Japan, where a visual novel story now unfolds. Players can expect to make plenty of tough decisions as Detective Ito during an investigation into a missing persons case, and uncover Ito’s past in the process.
Developers Cherrymochi and Mebius have implemented 13 different endings into Tokyo Dark depending on a player’s choices, with an expansion from Steam to mobile thanks to publisher Crunchyroll.
Woolly Boy and the Circus
Free-to-start indie adventure Woolly Boy and the Circus is the latest puzzle game from Rain City creator Big Pineapple, set in the aptly named Big Pineapple Circus. Donning a hand-painted artstyle, this literal circus (and also a fantastical world) serves as something of a puzzle itself, from which Woolly Boy and his yellow dog companion Qiuqiu must find a means of escape.
Published by Cotton Game on mobile, this puzzle title can be tried out for free before a one-off purchase for the full deal — cheaper here than on PC.
