Netflix’s Squid Game: Unleashed mobile game has generated approximately 10.7 million downloads to date, according to AppMagic estimates.

The title, based off the streaming firm’s hit TV series, was launched globally on December 17th, 2024, just ahead of the show’s second season. The multiplayer battle royale takes players through some of the series’ classic games, as well as new contests inspired by classic childhood activities.

Gaming shakeup

Netflix is currently underoing a shakeup of its gaming operations. Last year the company recruited ex-Epic Games EVP of development Alain Tascan to head up the division as its new president.

He replaced ex-Netflix Games VP Mike Verdu, who now holds the role of VP of GenAI.

Recently, the streaming firm’s VP of external games Leanne Loombe left the company after three years.

Last year the company also shut down its internal triple-A studio Team Blue, with key staff members such as Overwatch executive producer Chacko Sonny, Halo creative lead Joesph Staten and God of War art director Rafael Grassetti exiting following its closure.

Netflix also removed GTA 3 and Vice City from its gaming library after one year, with San Andreas the only title from the trilogy still available.
