Sony Is Officially The Largest Major Shareholder Of FromSoftware Parent Company Kadokawa

As of today, January 7, 2025, Sony has officially become the largest major shareholder of FromSoftware’s parent comany, Kadokawa Corporation.

Of course the news that this would be happening was confirmed this past December, but it was today that the deal went through with all the i’s dotted and t’s crossed.

Spotted by Genki_JPN on X, with the deal now done, we can begin looking forward to finding out an answer to the big question: what’s next? Will we see a partnership announcement between Sony and FromSoftware for a new project? Or will Sony instead start by leveraging Kadokawa’s anime business?

We might not know for a little while, since the ink is still fresh on Sony’s acquisition of shares, but it’s interesting to consider that 2025 could kick off in a really huge way, should Sony begin to leverage its new position within Kadokawa immediately with a FromSoftware partnership.

Who knows, this could really be the beginning of the road that finally leads us to Bloodborne getting a remaster, or even a sequel.
