Sonic The Hedgehog 3’s Jim Carrey Is Open To Playing Dr. Robotnik Again For A New Sonic Movie
Acting legend Jim Carrey has revealed that he’s up for playing Dr. Robotnik again in a new Sonic the Hedgehog movie following the release of Sonic 3 last month.
While the Ace Ventura: Pet Detective star has previously talked about retiring, he told YouTube channel Cinema Today that he’s open to returning for another Sonic film. Speaking of which, we already know that Paramount Pictures is planning a fourth Sonic the Hedgehog movie, which is set for 2027 release.
I’m definitely open. I’m open to the idea, and generally, they come to me with the next idea, and if I go, ‘that sounds fun’, then I’ll do it. I don’t feel locked to anything in life, unless it’s something that interests me. I certainly love this crew, I love this gang that makes these movies, and I love the fans. There’s a lot of really great energy around it, great responses, and the fans jump in and say, ‘how about if you do this?’ They’ve been super helpful. I think we’re all making this movie together.

Carrey has played Sonic’s nemesis in all three Sonic movies, although it was uncertain if he would return for Sonic 3 due to the outcome of the previous film and his talk of retirement. In Sonic 3 however, Carrey not only plays Robotnik once again, but also the character’s grandfather, Gerald Robotnik, who is the head of Project Shadow.
SEGA dubbed 2024 as ‘Fearless: Year of Shadow‘ to market a number of products surrounding Shadow the Hedgehog, who appeared not only in Sonic the Hedgehog 3 voice by Keanu Reeves, but also his own campaign in Sonic X Shadow Generations.
