Amazon has renewed gaming IP-based animated series Secret Level for a second season.
The show’s official X (formerly Twitter) account took to the platform to share the news with a post of Secret Level being the ‘largest debut for an animated series on Prime Video’.
No other details about the second season have been announced yet and there’s currently no information on which video game IPs will shape the show’s next season.
Secret Level uses various game IPs for short one-off episodes telling stories inspired by their respective worlds.
The first series featured stories based on the worlds of Pac-Man, Dungeons & Dragons, and The Outer Worlds. There’s also an episode focused on Concord, PlayStation’s live-service game that was pulled from sale less than two weeks after its release.
Blurring the lines
Secret Level was created by the team behind Netflix’s Love, Death and Robots. Tim Miller is the creator and executive producer alongside Dave Wilson serving as supervising director. It’s produced by Amazon MGM Studios and Blur Studio, the latter of which recently worked on Sonic the Hedgehog 3.
The show blurs the line between TV and advertisement, with one infamous episode, a dark reimagining of Pac-Man, serving as a promotion for an upcoming game.
Amazon is still navigating its video game development and adaptation strategy, following successes like Fallout and a live-action Yakuza series, with a Tomb Raider show also in the works.
