Elden Ring Nightreign To Include A ‘Small Number’ Of Foes From The Dark Souls Franchise
Speaking during an interview with Japanese gaming bible Famitsu, Elden Ring: Nightreign Game Director, Junya Ishizaki has revealed that there will be a “small number” of Dark Souls enemies featured in the game due to the “influence of the Night King.”
Here’s what he had to say regarding guest appearances from Dark Souls foes in the upcoming Elden Ring spinoff (via web translation):
Also, enemies from the DARK SOULS series will appear, but only a little. In terms of the setting, they are drawn from another world due to the influence of the King of Night, the original villain. In ELDEN RING NIGHTREIGN, we value the sense of chaos that various things attack at night. In that sense, I thought it would be interesting to have enemies from another world appear, so I got permission from Miyazaki and Tanimura (Yui Tanimura), the director of DARK SOULS II, and decided to have them appear.

Speaking during a separate interview, Ishizaki-san revealed that Elden Ring: Nightreign will support three-player co-op or solo gaming, but won’t allow players to team up as a duo. Developer FromSoftware announced earlier this week that it will be hosting a network test for the game in February 2025.
Elden Ring: Nightreign is scheduled for release in 2025 for PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S.
