Taking cues from the New York Times, Samsung is expanding its News app on Galaxy devices to include gaming.
The mobile manufacturer is bringing trivia game The Six to Samsung News, which was initially exclusive to Samsung TVs.
The first title from the mobile manufacturer is trivia game The Six, which was launched earlier this year on Samsung Smart TVs. The title offers daily challenges where players answer six questions on various topics, such as entertainment and world history. The faster they answer, the higher their score.
The Six is now available to play on Samsung News in the US and Canada.
New offerings
“Samsung’s commitment to broadening access to all types of gaming content and providing more ways for people to play continues to make our devices a top choice for players,” said Samsung VP of product development Avner Ronen.
“As a fan-favorite game, we’ve seen the popularity of The Six on our Smart TVs and are excited to bring this engaging experience to millions of mobile devices.”
Samsung said that it plans to add more games to the News app in the future. Moreover, the South Korean firm has launched its mobile cloud gaming platform for Galaxy devices in North America.
Initially introduced as an open beta, the platform allows users to play Android-native games without downloading them, supports Android APKs, and offers cloud-based solutions for monetisation and measurement.
Bringing games to Samsung News is another example of how everything is a games platform.
