When is Black Friday 2024?
This year, Black Friday falls on November 29. Usually, it’s a little earlier, but since it always follows Thanksgiving, and Thanksgiving itself is a little later this year, so too are the seasonal sales. This has a knock-on effect on Cyber Monday which doesn’t even fall in November this year, but on December 2. The majority of the sales events will continue between these two dates.
How do I find the best Black Friday deals?
With so much going on over the Black Friday weekend, it can be hard to keep on top of everything. One way to get a kind of bird’s eye view of the sales is to check out our curated highlights on both this page, and all our other Black Friday hubs:
Aside from that, here are a few pointers to keep in mind:
- During this period, deals can have a very short lifespan. If you see a phone you want at a discount price, buy it ASAP so you don’t miss out on the reduction. Some of them last as little as two hours.
- While it is sale season, it’s also scam season. But very cautious of deals that seem too good to be true. If you’re on a webpage, look closely at the URL to make sure it is genuinely the site it’s supposed to be. If it’s in an email, make sure the address that sent it to you is legit.
- Read the small print. Some websites will tell you that the latest iPhone is hundreds of dollars off or something like that, when the reality may be that the deal is only available to those trading in the previous model. A critical eye can help to save you some disappointment.
- On a similar note, some retailers (especially Amazon) will inflate a product’s “original price” to make the reduction look more significant than it is. To avoid falling for this, we recommend taking a look at the original price on a manufacturer’s website, as these are usually pretty reliable. What is claimed to be a 70% discount, could actually be a 30% discount.
Other than that, based on the Black Fridays of previous years, you can expect Amazon, Best Buy, and Samsung to have some pretty good deals on phones. Sadly, it is unlikely that Apple will have its own Black Friday sale, but there may still be reduced Apple products on other sites.
