Amber Isle release date and trailer

We’ve got bad news, dino pals – the Switch Amber Isle release date has been pushed back yet again. While this precious prehistoric-themed social sim has already welcomed PC players to its shores, it looks like Nintendo fans have to wait a few more months to get in on the adorable action.

But you know what? We’re willing to wait. We’re massive fans of both dinosaur games and life sims here at Pocket Tactics, so Amber Isle’s cutesy combination of the two is right up our alley. Ambertail Games was born in Belfast, Northern Ireland, in 2020 and the team has been working on this game, which is the studio’s debut title, ever since.

You play as your very own prehistoric Paleo-sona, on a mission to breathe life back into Amber Isle at the request of the grumpy iguanodon Mayor Clawsworth. You get to open and customize your shop to your personal specifications, help to rebuild the island to attract new residents, and meet a huge range of Paleofolk from several different prehistoric eras, all living peacefully side-by-side.

When is the Amber Isle release date?

The Amber Isle Switch release date has been delayed to February 2025. The PC version landed on Steam on Thursday, October 10, 2024, and the Switch version was supposed to follow three weeks later, on Thursday, October 31.

However, Ambertail has since announced that it has had to push back the Switch release again, as the team “didn’t feel comfortable releasing something that needed more time before it was in your hands.”

In the announcement, the indie games studio states “our team has been working to iron out the bugs from our Steam release whilst making incredible strides to get our Switch version to a high standard of performance, but the island needs a little more prep time before we’re ready to open our ports and have you come ashore!”

But don’t fret, Ambertail has also confirmed that “at launch in February 2025, our Nintendo Switch version will include all previous patches and updates from the Steam version” – so you don’t have to worry about missing out on any fresh features if you decide to wait for the Switch version before diving in.

You can check out the full announcement tweet on the official Amber Isle Twitter. We’ll be sure to update this page if we hear any more news regarding the Amber Isle Switch release date.
