Sonic X Shadow and Banjo-Tooie join this week’s eShop roundup

It’s time to reveal the latest games hitting the Nintendo Switch eShop. This week is jam-packed with new games, trials, sales, and more, from retro classics like Banjo-Tooie to a crossover adventure in the form of Sonic X Shadow.

Yep, Sonic is back, this time hanging with his best frenemy, Shadow. This outing features two unique gameplay styles depending on the current character. One important detail remains consistent, though – that constant need for speed. The blue blur is back!

Meanwhile, SEGA has another big entry this week in the form of Yakuza Kiwami. This is a remake of the first game in the Yakuza series, which debuted in 2005. Take to the streets of Tokyo in this street brawler featuring fights, casinos, and general mafia mayhem.

For Switch Online subscribers, the latest addition to the N64 collection is here, and it’s something special. Banjo-Tooie was first released in the year 2000, making this its 24th anniversary. This sequel to beloved 3D platfomer Banjo-Kazooie brings the bird and bear back for more collecting and puzzle solving in even larger worlds as they once again battle the evil witch Gruntilda.

Halloween is upon us, and there are some spooky sales to tempt your digital wallet. From Resident Evil to Castlevania, there’s plenty on offer. you can also play three games for free in the lates Game Trial, including the excellent Vampire Survivors. We’ll be going through our highlights in our upcoming episode of the Pure Nintendo Podcast, along with our favorite spooky games in general, so stay tuned!

Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack

  • Banjo-Tooie – Banjo and Kazooie are back for another adventure in the Nintendo 64 game Banjo-Tooie, which launches today as part of the Nintendo 64 – Nintendo Switch Online library. The evil witch Gruntilda is revived by her sisters and it’s up to the bear-bird duo to stop her! Packed with action to rival its predecessor, magical minigames, perplexing puzzles and freaky foes await them as they attempt to foil another of Gruntilda’s wicked plans. Banjo-Tooie will be available for Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack members later today.

  • Yakuza Kiwami – The critically acclaimed action-adventure epic that started the Yakuza series is  on the Nintendo Switch system for the first time!   • Romancing SaGa 2: Revenge of the Seven – The groundbreaking non-linear RPG makes its triumphant return as a full remake, featuring English voiceovers, original and rearranged compositions by series composer Kenji Ito and much more. Furious that mankind has forgotten their many sacrifices, the legendary Seven Heroes have returned as villains bent on revenge. Select your main character from several protagonists, defend your empire in strategic battles and experience a story that responds to your choices. Romancing SaGa 2: Revenge of the Seven is available now.

  • Triple the Fun – In this new Game Trial, you’ll be able to play three games instead of one!
