“No Additional Story Content Planned” For Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Says Insomniac
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will have been out for a full year in just two days at time of writing, and ahead of that one-year anniversary we got the news that PC players will be able to swing into Insomniac’s latest web-head adventure on January 30, 2025.
The news was announced by Marvel Games during New York Comic-Con 2024, and quickly followed up with a post on the PlayStation Blog, which included the details on the different editions of the game that’ll be available, but it also held a key bit of information.
Senior community manager at Insomniac, Aaron Jason Espinoza writes in the blog post “While we have no additional story content planned for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, we’re delighted to bring all of our previously released post-launch content to the PC version, including New Game+, new suits and color variants, Photo Mode features, and more.”
That line caught the eye of many readers because it seemingly confirms that there will be no additional story DLC for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, a question that still loomed over the game since it launched.
It’s disappointing news for fans, perhaps, because Insomniac’s first game had three DLC releases. Miles Morales was understood to be a smaller project from the get-go, so it wasn’t surprising that there would be no story-focused DLC there.
But Spider-Man 2 has more than a few story threads which could’ve been further fleshed out in DLC. It seems though for one reason or another, Insomniac is leaving all of those threads until the full-blown third entry in its Spider-Man series.
