Resident Evil 4 Remake Has Reached Major Sales Milestone With 8 Million Copies Sold

Capcom has announced on X that Resident Evil 4 Remake has reached eight million copies sold worldwide since its launch in March 2023 on PS5, PS4, PC, and Xbox Series X/S.

The last major sales milestone for the critically acclaimed horror revamp came in May 2024, at which point the game had move seven million units globally. So, it’s managed to move an extra million copies in less than six months, which is pretty impressive; evidently, the game is still very popular, and sales were no doubt boosted by the release of the Gold Edition earlier this year.

Resident Evil 4 Remake is a ground-up retelling of the original 2005 action horror masterpiece directed by Shinji Mikami. The game picks up some six years after Resident Evil 2 and its remake, and sees Leon S. Kennedy, now a government agent, dispatched by a remote European community to rescue President Graham’s kidnapped daughter. In addition to the main campaign, there’s also a Mercenaries mode available and the Separate Ways DLC, which follows Ada Wong’s mission that runs alongside Leon’s story.

Capcom originally announce Resident Evil 4 back in November 2002, and the game is infamous for having went through a couple of different versions before the development team settled on the version we know today. You can read about this more in our extensive feature here.
