Hood: Outlaws and Legends is being shut down, developer Sumo Digital and publisher Focus Home Interactive have announced.

In a statement published to the game’s Steam page, the studio laid out that the game will “end service” on February 18, 2025.

The game will stop being sold this coming October 16, 2024 and anyone who happens to purchase Hood: Outlaws and Legends within two weeks of that date will be refunded their purchase.

Then, on February 18, 2025, the game will no longer be playable.

“Dear Outlaws,

We regret to inform you that our game,Hood: Outlaws & Legends, will be ending service on February 18. After this date, the game, along with any Editions, DLCs, and Battle Pass items, will no longer be accessible.

This has been a difficult but necessary decision, and we understand it may be disappointing. The Hood teams deeply thank you for your support and dedication throughout this incredible adventure. We cherished every part of it and we hope your memories of Hood: Outlaws & Legends will be as treasured as ours.”

Unfortunately, this is just the latest example of an online game that will, in essence, be removed from players libraries and left as an empty grouping of words on a purchase history list.

Of course it’s not expected that developers and publishers maintain online games forever, but its just unfortunate that no offline mode has been brought forward, and that the game that many players have enjoyed for hundreds of hours will just be unplayable.
