The Wonder 101 Trademark Has Been Acquired By PlatinumGames

PlatinumGames has reportedly acquired the trademark to The Wonderful 101 from Nintendo.

Reddit user Joseki100 noted that a document was sent to the United States Patent and Trademark Office earlier this month, which requested a transferral of the trademark from Nintendo to PlatinumGames. Furthermore, it features an August 19-dated link to a Notice of Recordation of Assignment document, which confirms a September 9 registration and transfer date.

Back in 2023, Hideki Kamiya revealed during an interview with VGC prior to his departure from PlatinumGames that the studio only held specific rights to The Wonderful 101 Remastered, not the full trademark rights to the name itself. However, this now seems to have changed, and the studio indeed does own the brand.

The Wonderful 101 Remastered was released for PS4, PC, and Nintendo Switch in May 2020.
