52 Entertainment welcomes “millions of new players” through Blackout acquisition

Casual games publisher 52 Entertainment has bolstered its portfolio with the acquisition of Barcelona-based studio Blackout.

The deal sees 52 Entertainment pick up Blackout’s catalogue of games, which includes Word Search Quest, Spades and Bubble Shooter Rainbow. Those titles currently attract more than 19.6 million monthly players with a presence across Europe, North America and Latin America.

In addition to its existing games, Blackout titles currently in development will also join its new owner’s library.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Expanding a portfolio

“I am absolutely thrilled to announce the acquisition of Blackout,” said 52 Entertainment president and CEO Olivier Comte.

“This new chapter strengthens our position as a leader in the online gaming industry and marks a turning point in our quest for innovation and diversification.

“By welcoming millions of new players, we reaffirm our commitment to providing innovative and captivating gamingexperiences that bring people from all walks of life together. Believe me, we’re going to have a lot of fun.”

52 Entertainment CMO Vincent Tessier called Blackout a “fantastic success story” on LinkedIn, praising the studio’s “strong lineup of games”.
