Square Enix has delisted mobile game Kingdom Hearts Union X Dark Road from the App Store and Google Play Store.

Last week, fans discovered that the Kingdom Hearts title was no longer searchable or downloadable from the iOS or Google Play stores, with Square Enix remaining silent on the issue.

Initially, the game’s official website still allowed downloads via the Google Play store banner, but now these links lead to an “item not found” page. The game itself still works, though the situation is unsettling for fans.

Especially as the game ties directly into Kingdom Hearts 3 and the upcoming Kingdom Hearts 4. Key characters, like Strelitzia who appears in the Kingdom Hearts 4 trailer, first debuted in Union X. Now it has become more difficult for new players to access and understand essential parts of her story.

So what led to the game’s delisting?

Some speculations suggests it could be remastered or re-released, possibly for the Nintendo Switch. Others believe the delisting hints at the impending release of the new mobile spin-off Kingdom Hearts Missing Link, though no official updates have been provided for this long-awaited mobile game since its reveal in 2022.

This despite the game series being one of Square Enix’s most loved, with millions of fans eagerly awaiting any Kingdom Hearts news or mobile spin-offs and the arrival of the long overdue Kingdom Hearts 4.

The lack of communication from Square Enix prior to the delisting is also puzzling, especially since they had previously announced the end of the game’s live service without specifying this delisting.

Until Square Enix provides an update, fans that already have the game can continue to play while those that don’t will have to await further announcements about the series’ future.
