Pure Xbox Game Club September 2024: Mafia & Banjo-Tooie

Want to enhance your Xbox Game Pass experience? Come join the official Pure Xbox Game Club!

We can’t take any credit on staff for this — the PX Game Club is the work of ralphdibny, Balta666 and the rest of the contributors over at the Pure Xbox forums, who have established a community that meets up every month to play a game on Xbox Game Pass and share their experiences. Games are voted on every month by the contributors involved.

We’ve got a double bill for September 2024 – you can either pick Mafia: Definitive Edition or Banjo-Tooie to play on Xbox Game Pass over the next month. The former is perhaps the more enticing one given it just arrived on the service!

You’ll find the forum thread to get involved below (it has over 3,600 entries to date!):

If you’re interested in what kind of discussion goes on, here’s what a couple of contributors had to say about last month’s Pure Xbox Game Club title, Conker’s Bad Fur Day:

“I think that Rare’s other platformers, like Banjo-Kazooie, do both the characters and gameplay well, but Conker unfortunately only does the former well and fumbles way more with the latter. However, I am glad I didn’t let the frustrating moments in the gameplay stop me from replaying it! The game club most certainly gave me the motivation to play Conker again, and I’m so happy I didn’t give up.”

“Sorry guys, I didn’t really like this one. It’s one of Rare’s weaker platformers in my opinion. The context sensitivity system wasn’t really my thing and the crassy humor lost its novelty after a while. For extra authenticity, I played the Xbox remake using the Duke. Although one major gripe I have is that I couldn’t make the camera inverted like on N64, which is my preference, even in some modern games.”
