“Stone Cold” Steve Austin Explains Why He Didn’t Appear At WrestleMania XL Despite Being Contacted By WWE

“Stone Cold” Steve Austin was contacted to appear at WrestleMania XL this year.

So, why didn’t he show up?

During a recent interview with Adrian Hernandez of Unlikely, “The Texas Rattlesnake” spoke on this subject, and explained why he couldn’t accept the invitation to appear on WWE’s “Grandest Stage of Them All” at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, PA.

“It was close,” Austin said regarding how close he came to making a WrestleMania 40 appearance. “They certainly reached out to me. We had conversations.”

Austin continued, explaining why he ultimately couldn’t show up to “The Show of Shows.”

“My wife and I had some things going on and I didn’t need to go to Philly at that time,” he said. “I have said, I miss Mania and Philly was a good town for me back in the day and I appreciate those fans. Couldn’t make it down on that one. WrestleMania this year is in Vegas.”

In recent interviews, “The Bionic Redneck” made some not-so-subtle teases about the chances of him appearing at WrestleMania 41 this year in “Sin City,” which he made clear was pretty likely.
