Roblox bumps up daily active users by 21% Y/Y as revenue grows to $894m in Q2

User-generated content platform Roblox saw daily active users rise by 21% to 79.5 million year-over-year in Q2 2024.

In its Q2 2024 financials, the company reported monthly unique payers had also risen 22% year-on-year to 16.5m. The average bookings per monthly unique payer was $19.34, while average bookings per DAU was up 1% year-on-year to $12.01.

Overall, the number of hours played by users hit 17.4 billion during the quarter, a rise of 24% year-on-year. During an earnings call, Roblox CEO David Baszucki noted that there are now “well over” 20 experiences on the platform with more than one million DAUs.

The demographic of its userbase is gradually growing in the 13 and over group, representing 46.4m of its users in Q2, versus 32.4m players under 13. Baszucki noted that as the platform supports a broader range of content, it is now also seeing users over 25.

Revenue boost

Roblox generated $893.5m in revenue last quarter, an increase of 31% year-on-year. Bookings grew by 22% year-on-year to $955.2m. The company reported a net loss of $207m for the quarter and $67m in adjusted EBITDA.

Roblox posted full year guidance of between $3.49bn and $3.54bn in revenue and adjusted EBITDA between $92m and $132m.

“Our strong Q2 growth across all core metrics is driven by diverse and high quality content,” said Baszucki.

“As a UGC platform, we support a large and motivated creator community that continues to thrive. The dynamic Roblox content ecosystem is unique and our platform continues to attract users of all ages from across the globe.

“Going forward, we will continue to invest in our core platform to help our creator community build better and safer experiences and reach more people.”
