Dragon Age: The Veilguard Features 700 Characters And 140,000 Lines Of Dialogue

Do you like narrative in games? Does talking to every character in a particular town or place for 20 minutes each or more sound like how you’d want to spend an afternoon? Then boy, does Bioware seemingly have a game for you.

Dragon Age: The Veilguard is the highly anticipated return of the Dragon Age series that’s been dormant since Dragon Age: Inquisition, which released a full decade ago.

The franchise has always been narrative focused but based on how creative director John Epler spoke about the game in a recent interview, it looks like The Veilguard will be chalk full of more storytelling than ever before in a Dragon Age title.

Epler casually confirmed that The Veilguard has 700 characters who between them all have 140,000 lines of dialogue, while speaking about how Bioware really put the time into making sure the voice acting and the storytelling was as good as it could possibly be.

“We started casting five years ago. The team, the talent has been on for five years. It takes a long time to record 700 characters, you know – 80,000 lines or 140,000 lines with all the Rooks. It just takes time to make good.”
