Marvel Rivals Closed Beta Adds Jeff The Land Shark & Thor On July 27
NetEase Games has announced that the Marvel Rivals Closed Beta is getting two new playable characters tomorrow in the shape of Jeff the Land Shark and Thor.
Jeff the Land Shark is an interesting choice as he isn’t exactly on the tip of everyone’s tongues when it comes to Marvel characters. Jeff has yet to be adapted into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and is relatively new to the comics, having only been introduced in October 2018 in West Coast Avengers vol.3 #6.
Originally the pet land shark of Gwenpool, Jeff has since been taken into care by the likes of Deadpool, Elsa Bloodstone and Kate Bishop. He’s a quadruped shark with a large appetite, with his main attack being a rather nasty bite. Beyond that, he has regular abilities of a regular Earth shark.

Thor meanwhile needs no introduction. The God of Thunder is one of the most well-known characters in the Marvel universe, and Chris Hemsworth’s portrayal of the character in the MCU has brought him legions of new fans. For Marvel Rivals, Thor is believed to be a Vanguard, while Jeff is a Strategist.
The Marvel Rivals Closed Beta will run until August 5, 2024.
