New release roundup: Passpartout 2: The Lost Artist, Purple, and more
Produced alongside our friends at PocketGamer.fun – THE place to discover your next favourite mobile games – here’s our pick of the best fresh-this-week titles.
While the deals and the stats of the gaming world are important, nothing would happen without the research, funding and, of course, development that goes into making a great game. PocketGamer.fun brings you latest games, lets you see them in action and download right from the page.
So here are the most exciting new mobile games right now, the developers and publishers behind them, and why, exactly, they’ve made the cut.
Passpartout 2: The Lost Artist
Flooded with charm and personality, Flamebait’s latest game Passpartout 2: The Lost Artist tasks players with bringing colour back to the lives of puppets everywhere – or at least in a town called Phenix. The locals have plenty of artistic visions to fulfill, and who better than a struggling artist (the player) to make those dreams reality?
Taking advantage of mobile touchscreens, painting something spectacular is as easy as dragging and tapping a finger. That means all players have to worry about is finding that creative flow.
Passpartout 2 has a strong French identity from its soundtrack to its berets and, yes, baguettes; even artists need to eat. Completing tasks and painting something spectacular earns the player in-game money. And speaking of money, the beginning of the game can be experienced via a free trial, but players will need to splash some cash for the full version.
The Legend of Jaffa Brownie
Jaffa Cakes are the latest addition to the world of animated foodstuffs in the new 3D action-adventure game The Legend of Jaffa Brownie. Within this sweet title, players can expect to embody one of these chocolate-orange cakes, explore the Jaffa factory, platform over flying cars, and even ride a minecart through glacial terrain.
As players see the world through the eyes of a Jaffa Cake, they’ll also need to battle foes, master wooden sword-based combat, overcome obstacles and collect funds. Naturally, those finances are best spent on new hats and headgear.
The Legend of Jaffa Brownie marks the first game from developer Shosha, a studio founded in 2022 with two more titles already in the works – Water Me, and Water Me and You.
LUNA The Shadow Dust
Hand-animated puzzler and premium adventure game LUNA The Shadow Dust has point-and-clicked its way to iOS and Android, providing curious players with a charming artstyle, emotional soundtrack, and a cuddly cat-like companion.
LUNA first launched on PC in 2019 and made its way to Nintendo Switch in 2020. Four years later the adventure has finally landed on mobile – offering that many more people a chance to experience the motional tale, mysterious tower, and the deep lore of a mystical world.
Application Systems Heidelberg has given animal lovers one extra incentive to try LUNA too – they can play as the cat-like creature! Progression will see them switch back and forth between the protagonist and the furry friend, discovering the rich story together without speaking a word.
Purple
Bart Bonte is back with “another puzzle game” sticking to colourful tradition. This time around the puzzles are all in purple, hence the name of the new title: Purple. It’s simple and to the point – unlike many of the brainteasers within.
There are currently 50 levels that get progressively harder as players proceed through all the purple, and every one of them is partnered with minimalistic visuals and atmospheric music. There are often twists to the level, but Bart Bonte has included a hint system for those players who need it.
Purple follows in the vibrant footsteps of Yellow, Red, Black, Blue, Green, Pink, and Orange. There’s certainly a theme…
All in Hole: Sinkhole Puzzle!
Homa’s latest casual game is an Android exclusive and quite the power trip – giving fans dominion over a mighty black hole. With this power naturally comes great responsibility, and this is especially true when manipulating gravity.
All in Hole: Sinkhole Puzzle! trusts players with this level of power, tasking them with crossing vibrant fields and devouring every food item in sight – tomatoes, oranges, cherries, sweets, cupcakes… the list goes on.
Of course, there are time limits when it comes to eating up everything around, adding an all-important element of challenge, while power-ups like magnets offer an edge in whittling down those clear times. There are even online tournaments, allowing players to show off their black hole skills and reach a supermassive scale.
