Every announcement from the Nintendo Direct June 2024 showcase
The Nintendo Direct June 2024 was jam-packed with exciting announcements covering the latter half of 2024 and into 2025. Even without news of the Switch’s successor, there’s plenty to chew on in our round-up.
We honestly weren’t expecting much from this month’s showcase, but Nintendo duped us all, dropping trailers for tons of major first-party titles. We’ve got Mario & Luigi: Brothership breaking the series’ nearly decade-long hiatus, a Zelda-focused adventure through Hyrule in The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, and we’re slightly closer to news of the Metroid Prime 4 release date.

Mario & Luigi: Brothership
The show opened with the massive news that we’re finally getting a new Mario & Luigi game. Brothership is a nautical-themed return to the classic Nintendo RPG, and it’s coming to the Switch on November 7, 2024.
Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition
Compete against online opponents and the clock in this collection of NES classics. Try out a range of speedrunning challenges and battle royale modes when the game launches on July 18, 2024.
Fairy Tail 2
Experience the next part of Fairy Tale’s story this winter in Fairy Tale 2. This game follows on from the first RPG based on the hit manga series.
Fantasian: Neo Dimension
Father of the Final Fantasy series Hironobu Sakaguchi brings us Fantasian: Neo Dimension, a new turn-based RPG following Leo as he journeys to recover his memories and solve the mystery of a strange mechanical infection destroying his world. You can join him this winter.
Nintendo Switch Sports Basketball
Nintendo Switch Sports welcomes basketball to its offering this summer. This free update lets you play competitive 2v2 matches in local or online co-op, test your skills in the solo three-point challenge, or play against three local friends in the five-streak battle.
MIO: Memories in Orbit
In 2025, you can play as MIO, a versatile and nimble android looking to save the Vessel, its home, from destruction in this Metroidvania.
Disney Illusion Island: The Mystery in Monoth free update
Help dash Dolphin alone or with three others in couch co-op in this free update that’s available later today.
Hello Kitty Island Adventure
Previously an Apple Arcade exclusive, Hello Kitty Island Adventure is finally coming to the Nintendo Switch as a timed console exclusive in 2025. Check out our Hello Kitty Island Adventure review if you haven’t already to see what all the fuss is about. We can only hope that there’s cross-progression.
Looney Tunes: Wacky World of Sports
Did somebody say Space Jam? Join the Looney Tunes and compete in four different sports in this cartoonish part game, coming Autumn 2024.
New Among Us roles
Try out the new Noisemaker, Tracker, and Phantom crewmate and imposter roles later today as part of this free Among Us update.
Farmagia
Farmagia is a unique combination of farming sim and monster battler, with charming and recognizable character art from Fairy Tale’s mangaka, Hiro Mashima. You can travel to Felicidad and join Ten on his journey from November 1, 2024.
Donkey Kong Country Returns HD
An HD port of the classic Wii game Donkey Kong Country Returns is coming to the Switch on January 16 2025. It features local co-op and all 80 levels, including previously 3DS-exclusive ones.
Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake and Dragon Quest I+II HD-2D Remake
Everyone loves a bit of HD-2D, so now we can experience Dragon Quest III in a whole new style on November 14, 2024. This teaser trailer also revealed that we’ll get an HD-2D remake of Dragon Quest I and II bundled together in 2025.
Funko Fusion
We got a new gameplay trailer for Funk Fusion, the IP mash-up game coming on September 13, 2024.
Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD

The New Dempa Men
This free-to-play RPG lets you scour the radio waves for Dempa Men and catch them to collect items and decorate your house. It sounds insane, so give it a go on July 22, 2024.

Darkest Dungeon II
Choose from 12 playable heroes across five campaigns in this long-awaited Darkest Dungeon sequel, coming July 15, 2024.

The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom
We definitely weren’t expecting a brand-new Legend of Zelda title, but here we are. Link has vanished so we get to play as the princess herself, who meets Tri the fairy and uses the Tri-Rod to create ‘echoes’ of objects. This lets her traverse the landscape, solve puzzles, and even gather monsters to fight by her side. We can’t wait to give it a try on September 26, 2024.
Plus, Nintendo also announced a special edition gold Nintendo Switch Lite Hyrule Edition, featuring the Hylian Crest on the back. In Europe, the console comes with a 12-month NSO subscription, too.
Just Dance 2025
Another year, another Just Dance. This version adds 40 new tracks including Ariana Grande, Sia, and Green Day, as well as different difficulty levels for choreography.
Lego: Horizon Adventures
Previously revealed at Summer Game Fest 2024, Aloy is coming to the Switch in Lego form in Winter 2024.
Stray
Anapurna Interactive’s hit cat RPG Stray is finally porting to Switch. In what could be described as Little Kitty, Big City’s dystopian, cyberpunk older brother, you play as a cat exploring a city full of robots, looking to find your way home. Try it for yourself this winter.

Bring on winter because we cannot wait to try out Tales of the Shire!
Ace Attorney Investigations Collection
This Ace Attorney collection includes a game that was previously Japan-exclusive, plus all-new hand-drawn art from the original designer if you fancy a change from pixel sprites. Make sure you’re in the courtroom on September 6, 2024.
The Hundred Line Last Defense Academy
We heard there was a new Kodaka game coming, but Then Hundred Line Last Defense Army wasn’t what we were expecting. Play as a school student who has to survive 100 Danganronpa-esque days trapped in a school with other unique characters, fighting off colorful and terrifying monsters. Get ready to defend yourself in early 2025.
Romancing SaGa 2: Revenge of the Seven
The groundbreaking non-linear RPG Romancing SaGa 2 makes its triumphant return as a full remake. Jump into the action on October 24, 2024.
Metroid Prime 4: Beyond
Nintendo’s ‘one more thing’ was a brand-new cinematic and gameplay trailer for Metroid Prime 4, now called Metroid Prime 4: Beyond. It’s coming in 2025, which will be eight years after its initial announcement.
