Assassin’s Creed Shadows Map Is Closer In Size To Assassin’s Creed Origins

Assassin’s Creed Shadows has finally been revealed, with the long-running series making its first official stop in Japan. For a franchise that relies on its setting just as much – if not more – than its gameplay, players are keen to know what Ubisoft’s version of Japan will look like.

More specifically, players want to know what the game’s map will look like, and how big it’ll be. This new entry into the franchise is being made by Ubisoft Quebec, the team behind Assassin’s Creed Odyssey.

That said, according to an IGN interview with creative director Jonathan Dumont, the size of the map will be closer to Assassin’s Creed Origins.

“We did want to have a much closer to real life scale ratio. So because castles took a lot of space, and we really wanted the mountains to feel like mountains, [we’ve made] the environments feel wider in the game. But I would say around the same size as Origins”

What there’s no doubt about however is that this is indeed a return to the larger, open-world RPG’s of previous AC games.
