PlayStation Will Let You Send A QR Code To Invite People Into Your Games

When it comes to playing with your friends on PlayStation, after you jump over one hurdle, everything is pretty straightforward. The one hurdle is adding those friends as friends on PlayStation, before being able to invite them into party chats.

Announced in a PlayStation Blog post, that hurdle will soon be no more, as PlayStation revealed that with the help of the PlayStation Mobile app, you’ll be able to simply send a QR code to another player, even if they’re not your friend, and invite them to a party.

“Today, we’re excited to share that in the coming months, we’ll introduce the ability for you to generate a shareable link on your PS5 console or on PlayStation App, and send it to other PS5 players through any messaging or social media platform,” said Sabrina Meditz, senior director of product management and platform experience at Sony.

“By opening the link, the recipient will be able to hop into your multiplayer session even if they aren’t already friends with you on PlayStation Network.”

There’s even going to be a Discord-specific widget to send party invites over Discord. There’s no indication yet as to when this will all be available, but the fact that it’s coming is good to know.
