Games Listed As ‘PS5 Pro Enhanced’ Will Have A Few Requirements To Hit, Claims Report
A new report from Insider Gaming claims that games which will be listed as PS5 Pro Enhanced will need to hit a few requirements to make that claim.
If you’ve not heard by now, a quick catch-up is that there’s almost definitely a PS5 Pro coming, one that’ll be a huge hardware upgrade for the console’s GPU, not so much for the CPU. Not at all for the CPU, actually.
These specs (while still unofficial) currently provide a muddy image of what this new, professional version of the PS5 could bring as far as upgrades. There’s potential, but we won’t know how far that potential goes until we see it.
Whether that potential ends up being real or not, Insider Gaming’s report seems to confirm PlayStation will repeat old strategies as it did with the PS4 Pro, marking some games as being ‘enhanced’ to take advantage of the Pro’s added hardware capabilities.
As such, those games that bear the label “PS5 Pro Enhanced” will reportedly include:
-
Increased target resolution for titles that run a fixed resolution on the standard console
-
Increased target maximum resolution for titles that run at variable resolution on the standard console
-
Increased target frame rate for titles that target a fixed frame rate on the standard console
-
Inclusion of PS5 Pro Ray Tracing effects
When Sony finally does reveal the PS5 Pro, it’ll be interesting to see what it’ll mean for a game to be ‘PS5 Pro Enhanced’ in practice.
