Something Wicked Games Reportedly Lays Off Most Of Their Staff

Something Wicked Games is an independent video game development studio that was founded back in 2022 by former Bethesda and Obsidian developers who had previously worked on classic RPG’s like Fallout 3/4, Fallout: New Vegas, Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and The Outer Worlds.

Since then, the new, small team has been working on its debut title, an RPG called Wrydsong, though the fate of that project, and the studio now seem to be in question.

Now former employees of Something Wicked Games reveal through posts on LinkedIn (spotted by Game Developer) that the studio has had layoffs which have impacted “most of their staff.”

“Heartbreaking news today as Something Wicked Games had to lay off most of their staff,” wrote Eric Webb, a veteran developer and former lead animator at Something Wicked Games.

Graphics programmer Andrew Woloszyn added “Sadly, after only a short few months, I was caught up in the layoffs at Something Wicked Games. Even though it was short, I was lucky to work with such extremely talented people.”

It’s unclear just how many individuals have been laid off from Something Wicked Games, or if the studio will continue to be active.

Former lead narrative designer at Something Wicked Jessica Sliwinski is the only other member of the Something Wicked team that confirmed to be part of the layoffs.

It is however as sad as it always is, to see more developers laid off, now looking for work.

Hopefully those impacted are able to land on their feet soon.
