‘Tiny Tower’, ‘Spire Blast’, ‘Temple Run 2’, ‘Marvel Snap’, and More – TouchArcade
Hello everyone, and welcome to the week! It’s time once again for our look back at the noteworthy updates of the last seven days. Oh boy, Shaun’s running late tonight. So late that he doesn’t have time for any silly jokes. I’ve made a list; feel free to check it twice. Of course, you can keep an eye out for updates yourself by participating in the TouchArcade forums. This weekly summary is just here to fill you in on the things you might have missed. Let’s go for it!
MARVEL SNAP, Free
A new month means a new season for Marvel Snap, and this time around the theme is Avengers vs X-Men. As always this means some new cards to play with, along with some new locations and variants for existing cards. So far the first couple of cards don’t seem to be getting a lot of play, but I suppose we’ll have to see how things unfold over the next few weeks as the remaining cards come into play with their interactions. Also, no new Spider-Mans. That means no coveted award for you this time, Second Dinner. You know how to change that.
Jetpack Joyride, Free
Saint Patrick’s Day is this week, and that means this article and next week’s will have some updates dedicated to it. I mean, who doesn’t love all the green and what-not? In the Saint Patty’s event in Jetpack Joyride, you’re up to the usual business. Collect the event tokens and you can get your hands on some event rewards, in this case the Lucky Lass, Celtic Harp Jetpack, and Clover Clunker. You know what you have to do if you want them. I wish you all the luck in the world if you’re going for them.
Tiny Tower: Tap Idle Evolution, Free
Okay, I guess the name of this one is now Tiny Tower: Tap Idle Evolution. Sure, that’s fine. Nothing says ‘evolution’ quite like a game from over a decade ago. Anyway, another Saint Patrick’s Day event here. How does that shake out? I’m not actually sure yet because as I write this the event isn’t live yet. This update also adds some new languages to the game, plus some balance adjustments and bug fixes. Yes, I’m still playing this. No, I’m not exactly sure why.
Marvel Contest of Champions, Free
We’re not quite done with the Marvel stuff for the week yet, because Contest of Champions also got a nice little update in the last seven days. We’ve got a couple of new Champions in the game, with The Destroyer and The Serpent coming to show off their skills. I’m assuming at this point we are taking some major liberties, because The Destroyer versus most heroes is going to end very badly. Some new Quests and Events associated with these new faces, along with a few other things to keep you busy while you wait for the next update. But no new Spider-Mans, so no coveted award for you either, Kabam.
NBA 2K24 Arcade Edition,
Over to the Apple Arcade version of NBA 2K24, and it’s a pretty hefty one this time. The big things is the addition of eight more Greatest of All-Time players, with names like Shaq, Michael Jordan, and David Robinson in the number. There is also some new All-Star gear, roster updates, and more. You know what? Shaq played a superhero once in a movie, that’s close enough. This is our winner of the coveted UMMSotW award for the week. Moving on!
SpongeBob: Patty Pursuit,
With that having been done, let’s move along to another Apple Arcade game that got updated in the last week. SpongeBob: Patty Pursuit has been a bit dry for the last several months, but it got a splash of water with this latest version. There’s a new Tale of the Deep to play, following Gary the Snail’s daily life in Bikini Bottom. It’s a lot more interesting than you might think. Use your snail powers to get past anything that comes between you and reuniting with your bestest buddy in the world. Presumably very slowly, though I can’t speak to a snail’s speed underwater. Maybe they are fast down there? I try to keep away from the sea. Full of monsters, I assure you.
Subway Surfers, Free
Blessed be those Subway Surfers kids and their consistent update schedule. Always providing me something to stick in these articles every few weeks. This is actually a bit more exciting of an update as usual, because it adds a new mode to the game. It’s called Floor is Lava, and it’s going to seriously put your skills to the test. If you manage to rise to the challenge, you can unlock Red Panda. But that’s not all! This update also packs in Easter and Saint Patrick’s Day events, complete with their own characters and boards associated with them. There’s also a Holi-themed outfit for one of the kids. Plenty to dig into if Subway Surfers is your jam.
Spire Blast,
Of course, we have to get our fill of puzzle game updates for the week. This one isn’t fully free, so we’ll have to have another later on, but for now let’s enjoy the moment. Spire Blast has eighty, yes eighty, new levels for you to play set in the Floating Rivers. It’s a magical new land where rivers float, instead of sinking the way they usually would in our boring reality. Eighty levels! That’s a lot of spire blasting. You’d best get on that if you haven’t already.
Temple Run 2, Free
No, we are not done with Saint Patrick’s Day updates yet. Temple Run 2 isn’t going to miss a beat with that, as you know. Nidhi Nirmal gets a Holi-themed outfit, Easter and Saint Patrick’s Day pets join the fray, classic seasonal characters like Springwynd and Bunny Guy make a return, plus a whole lot more. It’s a busy month with a variety of holidays and the demon monkeys won’t let you go home until you properly celebrate all of them! Sorry, that’s just how demon monkey rules work.
Toon Blast, Free
We’ll finish things up with the obligatory free-to-play matching puzzle game update for the week, this time uncreatively going with Toon Blast because my dinner is probably ice cold by now. You get the usual fifty new levels to play, and this time it has something to do with a carousel. Why? How? I’m not equipped to answer those questions, but I’m sure the Toons are getting into some kind of trouble that will be easily resolved by matching colors. That’s just how things go.
That about wraps it up for last week’s significant updates. I’m sure I’ve missed some, though, so please feel free to comment below and let everyone know if you think something should be mentioned. As usual, major updates will likely get their own news stories throughout this week, and I’ll be back next Monday to summarize and fill in the blanks. Have a great week!
