Baldur’s Gate 3 Dev Working On ‘Cross-Platform’ Mod Support For Later In 2024
Hot on the heels of a major new patch for Baldur’s Gate 3, developer Larian Studios has announced that it’s working on mod support across all platforms, which seemingly includes console.
Taking to Twitter as the team deployed “Hotfix 19”, Larian Studios’ Director of Publishing teased some of what’s to come for Baldur’s Gate 3. Known on the social media platform as ‘Cromwelp’, the developer revealed that “robust” cross-platform mod support is coming.
“We generally don’t talk about things til they’re ready, but as you may have read, we’re making an exception. We’ve been working on a robust, cross-platform plan for mod support to be released later in year. We love our modding community and we want to support them. It’s coming.
We have a system but it needs to be tested and still requires work. We’re excited about it. I understand that it sucks when the game is updated and mods break. Our community teams will start talking with and looping in modding community. For now, work continues”
It sounds like there’s quite a bit of work to still be done before this all goes live, but at least we have a projected release window of later on in 2024 – that’s something to look forward to for BG3 players!
If you want to keep up on progress as it happens, the dev says it will be providing updates within its Discord community as things get ironed out and in ship- shape ready for release. Baldur’s Gate 3 is already packed with content, so we can only imagine where official mod support will take the game!
