How do I get a Pokémon Go Rotom?

To get yourself a Rotom in Pokémon Go, you’re going to have to do something other than walk around outside. Rotom is available as a special encounter once you complete the Global Unlock: Ghost in the Machine special research quest.

This is part of the Sinnoh Tour 2024 as it reaches Los Angeles – but that doesn’t mean that worldwide trainers can’t join in. Trainers in the US uncovered the code that you need to unlock the quest.

The Ghost in the Machine special research quest code is 0HY0UF0UNDM3.

The quest is only available until 8pm local time on February 25, 2024, so you need to get in quick if you want to nab a regular-form Rotom. To redeem the code, head to the official Pokémon Go site here.

Which Rotom forms are there in Pokémon Go?

The only forms of Rotom available in the game are the normal, Wash, Mow, and Frost forms. These come with different elements – water, grass, and ice, respectively. However, the Wash form was an exclusive in a 2020 event, the Mow form was available in 2022, and the Frost form was the 2023 form. It looks like we’ll need to wait a bit longer to get the heat and fan forms of Rotom in Pokémon Go.

Can you get a shiny Rotom in Pokémon Go?

You can, if you’re lucky, grab a shiny Rotom. The shiny one has a pink body with orange electricity around it, making it a snazzy-looking Pokémon. If you do your Rotom encounter during the Sinnoh Global tour, you will have a slightly higher chance of getting a shiny Rotom. This event kicks off on February 24, 2024, at 10am local time.
