Bloober Team Boss Says Silent Hill 2 Combat Trailer ‘Does Not Reflect The Spirit Of The Game’

The Silent Hill 2 trailer that debuted during Sony’s latest State of Play ‘does not reflect the spirt of the game,’ the president of Bloober Team has said.

In case you missed it, the trailer focuses on combat and left a lot of fans more than a little disappointed, as it seemed somewhat unpolished in terms of animations and sound effects. More than anything though, it doesn’t capture the essence of Silent Hill 2, which is atmospheric quality and storytelling; it’s not supposed to be a combat-heavy game.

It seems that the majority of people agree too, as the trailer has only 54% Likes at the time of writing, with 29,500 users giving it a ‘Thumbs Down’ vote out of the 64,000 users who have voted.

Blooper Team’s Piotr Babieno has now told Inwestorzy.tv (transcribed by Eurogamer Poland, with the video now having been removed) that he agrees with many of the negative comments surrounding the trailer. In fact, he seemed to place the blame squarely on Konami.

I wrote those negative comments myself. In all seriousness, we are not responsible for the marketing side. That is entirely the responsibility of our partner. Certainly this trailer does not reflect the spirit of the game.

It is not the spirit of either what it used to be or what we are creating now. We are trying to fully reflect this romantic vision about the game, which debuted 22 years ago. We think that when players see the real gameplay, the real game, they will judge it in a completely different way.

In related news, the Silent Hill series producer said during a recent interview with Famitsu magazine that development on Silent Hill 2 Remake is now in its final stages.

Silent Hill 2 Remake has yet to attract a release date but is expected to ship for PS5 and PC in 2024.
