Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune Remake Potentially In The Works – Rumour
Another day, another rumour concerning Sony dipping into its back catalogue to remake an entry in one of its beloved franchises.
Up to the plate this time is Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune, which, according to Nick Baker and John Clarke of the XboxEra podcast, is potentially being remade on PS5.
Speaking after having received evidence independent of one another, the hosts detailed the rumour which seems to stem from a number of years ago and appears to be more so a pitch deck about a potential remake rather than a full-confirmation that development is underway.
As a result, they were quick to stress that ‘’it doesn’t necessarily mean this is 100 percent happening, but what we saw does seem to indicate that, at the very least, it was being strongly considered.”
It’s a little murky in terms of if it’s actually in development or is just being considered at this present time, but it wouldn’t be surprising considering Sony’s recent approach to its catalogue of games.
It’s worth being in mind that a remake of Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune was already mooted a number of years ago which may be what this is referring to, where it was alleged (via Bloomberg) that PlayStation’s Visual Arts Service Group was at the helm until they shifted focus to a remake of The Last of Us, owing to how much of an effort remaking Nathan Drake’s maiden voyage would entail.

If it is indeed true, it would line up with Sony’s approach as of late given a sequel to the Uncharted film is likely happening, wherein we have an Until Dawn remaster which is coming off of the heels of the film announcement, as well as rumours of Horizon Zero Dawn and God of War getting the remaster treatement to again coincide with their respective debuts in the realm of television.
