Eidos Montreal’s Reportedly Cancelled Deus Ex Game Wasn’t Going To Be An Adam Jensen Story, According To Voice Actor
Eidos Montreal confirmed on Monday that 97 developers across various teams had been laid off from the studio, as a result of Embracer Group’s restructuring.
What it didn’t say is that reportedly, this layoff also means that a new Deus Ex game that was underway at the studio, has now been cancelled by Embracer Group.
While the most upsetting piece of news surrounding this is clearly the layoffs, fans can also take a minute to feel sad that we won’t be getting a new entry in the series.
Fans can perhaps take solace though, that the new Deus Ex game might not have been what they would’ve wanted to see, since according to Elias Toufexis, voice actor for Adam Jensen, protagonist in the last two recent games, this new game likely “wasn’t a Jensen story anyway.”
“If they had been working on a Deus Ex for two years, and they still hadn’t contacted, me, there’s a good chance it wasn’t a Jensen story anyway.” Toufexis tweeted.
“I’m more pissed for all the people getting laid off. This industry is *expletive* with this stuff.”
So even though fans are missing out on whatever Eidos Montreal was working on, we are at least spared the online controversy that would’ve been sparked, knowing that we wouldn’t be going back to fan-favourite Adam Jensen.
