Mickey Mouse Looks Creepy As All-Hell In New Horror Game ‘Infestation 88’
Enough time has now passed for the original Mickey Mouse character to become publicly available for use in media – basically, the design can no longer by copyrighted by the original owner. As a result, you’re probably going to start seeing the iconic design crop up all over the place – and developer Nightmare Forge Games is wasting no time in using it.
Enter ‘Infestation 88‘ – a new co-op horror game announced on the day Mickey Mouse moved into the public domain. We don’t know too much about what this game will deliver just yet, aside from some horrifying imagery related to the infamous cartoon character.

“Announcing Infestation 88, a co-op horror in which you’re an exterminator treating sinister infestations caused by twisted versions of classic characters and urban legends.
In the year 1988, what was thought to be an outbreak of vermin morphed into something far more sinister. Infestation 88 is an episodic, 1-4 player co-op survival horror game in which you and your friends are exterminators called in to treat these mysterious infestations.”
At the time of writing the only platform confirmed so far is PC, with the game available to wishlist now on Steam. We’ll keep our eyes peeled for any hints of an Xbox release – the team says it will be adding a bunch of FAQ answers to its official Discord page “within the next few days”, so we should get more information on Infestation 88 shortly.
