Frostbite Engine Has Been Rebranded By EA To Reflect ‘Renewed Focus On Partnership With Our Teams’
Electronic Arts has announced a rebranding of its in-house Frostbite engine, revealing in a press release that the decision comes as a reflection of its “renewed focus on partnership.” However, it also stressed that its developers are free to work with any game engine they see fit, and will not be forced to utilise Frostbite.
The Frostbite engine is a highly popular choice for developers at EA, and was originally fashioned by DICE to power its multi-million selling Battlefield franchise. In addition, the engine was also utilised by BioWare for Anthem and Mass Effect Andromeda, and more recently, powered the Dead Space remake developed by EA Motive.

This rebrand reflects who we are today and signals not just a visual shift for Frostbite, but a philosophical one, with a renewed focus on partnership with our teams and creators. Over the years, we’ve been working hand-in-hand with game teams across EA to understand their development and technology needs better, prioritizing changes that create more flexibility for innovation and a positive user experience for developers.
The new Frostbite logo has also been revealed (you can see it above in the image underneath the title of this very article), which is described as “innately human” by EA. It also said that it acts as a “point of connection, keeping us in touch with our past and everyone who has contributed to Frostbite.”
