Capcom Would ‘Gracefully Decline’ Any Acquisition Attempt From Xbox
There’s always speculation about who Microsoft might be interested in acquiring, and Capcom is an obvious target! The company has been going from strength-to-strength lately with the likes of Street Fighter 6 and Resident Evil 4 Remake.
However, as you might expect, Capcom has no interest in being bought right now. Speaking to Bloomberg last week, COO Haruhiro Tsujimoto had the following to say about whether he’d entertain the idea of an Xbox acquisition:
“I would gracefully decline the offer because I believe it would be better if we were equal partners.”
Tsujimoto also mentioned during the discussion how Capcom would rather invest in “organic growth” than acquiring other companies to come and work for them, although they’re still open to working with “external partners”.
So, you can cross Capcom off the list… at least for now! There’s no sign of the company being acquired by Microsoft (or anyone else) anytime soon, and ultimately that doesn’t come as any big surprise.
Now, if you’ll excuse us, it’s time to play some more of Resident Evil 4’s Separate Ways DLC!
