Mountaintop Studios Shows Sneak-Peek At Its Upcoming “Genre Evolving” PvP Shooter, Playtest Coming Later This Month

Mountaintop Studios is the team combined of developers with Respawn, Bungie, Naughty Dog, Blizzard, Riot, Epic and more who are working on a new PvP FPS title the studio even teased earlier this week.

The studio’s game director Lee Horn, who himself has both Riot and Respawn on his resume on titles like League Of Legends and Apex Legends stars in a 76 second long teaser trailer that showcases plenty of concept art for the team’s debut title, and announces its first PC playtest will take place later this month.

On August 25 and August 26, those who’ve signed up for the playtest and are then chosen will get a chance to try out this new shooter before the rest of the world.

Horn calls this coming project “a new genre evolving competitive tactical shooter,” before going on to list certain gripes shooter players may have with the game’s currently on offer.

Mountaintop Studios was first unveiled in 2020, and has been working on this project since as it’s been acquiring funding. There’s already been a community of players who’ve been playtesting and providing feedback, though now it seems Mountaintop is ready to open things up further.

Which could be a good sign, in that the game is getting closer to a proper reveal. Though by all accounts, it sounds like this game will be another shooter trying to take a bite of the free-to-play, live-service pie.

How well Mountaintop’s title does against the current giants in that space, many of whom the developers of Mountaintop all worked on, will be interesting to see.
