With so many enemies ready to wipe Link off the face of Hyrule, it pays to get building quickly! Plus, once you make a particularly complicated device, it’s very handy as you never have to make it from scratch again.

How do I unlock Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom autobuild?

Like many things in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, autobuild is very easy to miss. But, if you know where you’re heading, you can actually unlock the ability very early in the game. However, this is only possible once you leave the Great Sky Island, reach the surface of Hyrule, and speak to Purah to unlock the Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Lookout Landing tower. Once you activate that tower, you’re free to explore and unlock autobuild by following these steps.

To find autobuild, first head to the Great Plateau East Chasm. This is located at -0453, -1985, 0072, and is reachable with some extra stamina by gliding from the In-Isa shrine on the Great Sky Island. Either use a stamina-boosting elixir to extend your gliding time, or wait until you increase your stamina by exploring shrines, and you can glide right over to the chasm entrance from right behind In-Isa shrine.

At the Great Chasm entrance, dive in and reach the floor of the depths. From your landing position, head south towards the blue lights, located at -0493, -2020, -0523. Here, fire a brightbloom seed or giant brightbloom seed to illuminate the area, and you can see a minecart and a rail. Use ultrahand to place the minecart on the rail, and attach a fan to the back of the minecart to get it ready to travel.

Once you’re ready, hit the fan to send the minecart on its way, and hold tight as you make your way through the depths like Donkey Kong in the dark. If you stay aboard, you reach the Great Abandoned Central Mine, located at -0826, -1984, -0545. From here, fire off a brightbloom seed or two to light your way and climb the ruins in front of you.

Once on top, look right to see a glowing green Zonai construct located at -0806, -1926, -0520. Interact with the construct to unlock the autobuild ability, meaning you can now recreate constructs you have already built.

If you interact with the people near the Zonai construct and use autobuild to rebuild their cars, a boss fight starts. You do not have to complete this fight to earn autobuild, but it does reward you with a very handy schema stone.

What does Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom autobuild do?

The Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom autobuild ability automatically remembers any constructions you make from Zonai devices using ultrahand. You don’t need to do anything to record them, but you can favourite your own creations, as well as unlock blueprints for more complicated constructions by exploring the depths and finding schema stones.

How do I use Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom autobuild?

Select the autobuild ability by pressing L and opening the ability wheel. From here, choose the Zonai construction you want to recreate, and an opaque version of it appears in the world as a preview. If you don’t have any of the pieces needed to recreate that construction, you can spend Zonaite to build it.

However, if you have the different pieces that are needed to make the construction available and within the circle below the preview of the construction, then you can quickly make it out of those available pieces. Then simply press A to recreate a Zonai construction from your blueprints and place it in the world.
